Simon Turmanis, from Simon Turmanis & Associates, approached Graphic Edge Design in 2005.

From our initial discussions with Simon, we defined his requirements to include a personalised e-mail address, domain name registration (web site address), a web site and web hosting. We also prioritised the order for these requirements to be carried out.

Since Simon wanted to have his new e-mail address operating whilst the website was being designed, his domain name (turmanisandassociates.com) had to be registered first. There were two main things we discussed with Simon to help him decide on this domain name –

1. Target Market:
Simon had to consider who would be the readers of this website. After some discussion, Simon decided on ‘turmanisandassociates’ as it as it projects professionalism and installs confidence, which are traits that are important for this type of business. Also, we discussed the benefit of including your business name in your domain name for establishing a good position in search engines. Finally, this domain was concurrent with the ideology for the website design.

2. Domain Name Extension (.com / .com.au / .biz / .org):
Although, the extension is not critical for an operational website, we discussed the alternatives with Simon to enable him to make an informed decision. Simon chose .com as his extension as he did not want to lengthen the name more than necessary. Additionally, this extension was available for registration.

Once the domain name had been registered, we created a hosting account and a temporary web page to display Simon’s contact details whilst work on the website was undertaken.

Following this, all e-mail accounts Simon required with the turmanisandassociates.com extension were set up on his personal computer & the computers of his employees.
